1.      Table Mountain - Yup. That’s essential. Be it July or December; no visit to the mother city can be complete without a climb or hike up to the magnificent Table Mountain (or you can opt for a dizzying rotating cable car), the World famous flat-topped range with a spectacular view of Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean. Dine on top of the World!

2.      Volstruisfees - If you want to gorge on ostrich meat with delectable local wines then attend the  3-day fest at De Rust with live entertainment  in the form of bands, "stoepstories", an Ostrich products fashion show, a safari lunch, cycling, 4x4 rally and boeresport to name a few of the events to be held this year.

3.       Franschhoek Bastille Festival Bastille Day, a French national holiday celebrated on 14th July with the utmost reckless abandon offers a plethora of intriguing convivial activities like a Food & Wine Marquee, a French Film Festival, annual fly-fishing competition, bolus competitions, the Chef’s & Waiters Race, Pêtanque, the Barrel Rolling competition and so much more!

4.       Check out HermanusFor the best land based whale watching experience in the World, head over to Hermanus, an idyllic little town tucked in a corner of Cape Town. Also check out the Fernkloof nature reserve in Hermanus, amazing fynbos found there for a botany-buff.

9.      Vodacom Funny FestivalThis hilarious comedy show has been running to packed houses at the Baxter Theatre since its inception and promises lots of rib-tickling, thigh-slapping comedy this year as well in the form illustrious local and international artistes from 15 to 19 July. 

10.   Breedekloof Soetes and SoupThe annual Breedekloof Soetes and Soup weekend held on July 24 and 25 offers its visitors delicious country soups, accommodation specials (including camping and caravan facilities), art exhibitions, discounts on medal-winning Muscadel and Port.
