Day 1 South Africa – Cederberg Mountain Region

We depart Cape Town and drive north to the spectacular Cederberg region. We spend time this afternoon learning the vehicle and equipment.
Day 2 Namibia - Namaqualand Gariep River
Two per room B,L,D
We travel through Namaqualand and to the Gariep/Orange River. The night is spent getting to know one another over a hearty meal.
Day 3 Gariep/Orange River - Fish River Canyon
Two per room B,L,D
In the morning we have the opportunity to experience the Gariep/Orange River by canoe, or spend some time relaxing. After lunch we travel north to visit the Ai-Ais Hot Springs and overnight close to the mighty Fish River Canyon. Optional Activities: Half-Day Canoe Adventure
Day 4 Fish River Canyon - Kokerboom Forest

After an early breakfast we take a scenic walk along the rim of the Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon we travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) Forest.
Day 5 Bushman Community - Namib Naukluft Park

This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe will have the chance to do so. Later we drive west towards the massive dunes of Sossusvlei. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction
Day 6 Namib Naukluft National Park

As we enter the Sossusvlei area we are joined by a local expert to learn about the unique desert ecosystem. After the tour you can hike up Dune 45 for some photos, before a later excursion to Sesriem Canyon.
Day 7/8 Swakopmund
Two per room B,L,D (D day 8 only)
Today we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way through the desert. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be briefed on the different optional activities available. Day 8 is left free for you to explore the town or try one of the many adventure activities. Optional Activities: Quadbiking, Sandboarding, Sky Diving, Dolphin Cruise, Scenic Flights, Fishing etc.
Day 9 Himba Tribe

Heading inland, we drive north towards Kamanjab where we meet with the local Himba tribe from this area. Encountering a totally different way of life can be a moving experience for many people.
Day 10/11 Etosha National Park

After an early breakfast we enter Etosha NP for some superb game viewing. One night will be spent inside the park where we can see the nocturnal animals at the floodlit waterhole.
Day 12 Windhoek

On our way to Namibia’s capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. In the afternoon we’ll take you on a short tour of the city. Optional Activities: Dinner at Joe’s Beer House.
Day 13 Botswana - Ghanzi

We take a scenic drive to the Buitepos border, where we enter Botswana. Once at the lodge we meet with a local Bushman community and see some traditional Tribal Dancing.
Day 14/15/16 Botswana Maun - Okavango Delta
Two per room/permanent tent B,L,D
Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We spend one night in this remote town and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to Gunn’s Camp for the next 2 nights. Animals are often spotted from the lodge, but we also take a nature walk and, if the water level allows, a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip.
Day 17 Botswana - Gweta

A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Gweta, halfway between Kasane and Nata.
Day 18 Botswana – Kasane - Chobe National Park

We drive north to Kasane, where we stay on the bank of the Chobe River. We take an afternoon river cruise in order to visit Chobe NP’s animals as they come down to the river to drink.
Day 19/20 Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls

After crossing into Zimbabwe we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we visit the much anticipated Victoria Falls NP. Most people will spend the following day white water rafting, but Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion, Dinner in local restaurant.
Day 21/22 Transit from Victoria Falls to South Africa - Johannesburg

It is a long and uneventful drive through Botswana to Johannesburg.
Day 23 South Africa – Panorama Route

After a short briefing we leave Johannesburg on a scenic drive through Mpumalanga and the breathtaking vistas of the Lowveld. Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes will be some of today’s highlights.
Day 24/25 Kruger National Park

We get up early and visit a wildlife rehabilitation centre for an educational experience and then enter the world famous Kruger NP. The next two days are spent exploring the southern Kruger area and we have a good chance of sighting Africa's famed big five. An optional night drive with one of the South African National Park (SANP) rangers is an excellent way to see some of the nocturnal animals. Optional Activities: SANP Night Drive
Day 26/27 Swaziland - Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary

Today we leave the Kruger NP and cross the border into Swaziland. We spend the next two nights in the Mlilwane Nature Reserve where we are able to explore the area on foot. We also experience the wonderful Swazi culture when enjoying a display of traditional dancing. Optional Activities: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Horse Riding and Game Viewing.
Day 28/29 South Africa – The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park – Durban

We leave Swaziland and re-enter South Africa to drive down to the warm Indian Ocean coast. We spend the afternoon exploring the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and take an afternoon sunset cruise on the lagoon. The following morning we transfer to the Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve for a guided game drive. We enter the coastal city of Durban in the late afternoon. Optional Activities: Dinner and night out in Durban.
Day 30/31 Drakensberg

We leave the beautiful beaches of Kwa Zulu Natal, and travel inland to the Royal Natal NP, part of the massive Drakensberg escarpment. You can choose between many activities, including horse riding. A short guided hike to view Bushmen rock art can be very enjoyable. Optional Activities: Horse Riding, Hiking.
Day 32/33 Lesotho - Malealea

After a long but scenic drive we cross the Lesotho border. The popular pony trekking excursion requires an early morning of those who are participating. Lesotho natives will guide you along remote trails and the scenery is spectacular. For those who prefer to remain at the lodge there are more relaxing activities available, such as a visit to the village school or craft market. Optional Activities: Pony Trekking Excursion, Hiking.
Day 34/35 South Africa - Hogsback

We leave Lesotho and drive south to the picturesque Hogsback valley. In addition to a gentle hike into the surrounding forest your guides will also provide information on the other available activities in this area. Optional Activities: Horse riding, mountain biking
Day 36 Addo Elephant National Park

As the name suggests, the Addo Elephant NP is full of elephants! These magnificent creatures are always a highlight and you will be sure to get some superb photos.
Day 37/38 Bloukrans Tsitsikamma National Park

After an early morning game drive we bid farewell to the elephants and drive along the sunshine coast until we reach Bloukrans. Optional Activities: Bungee Jumping (highest in the world), Treetop Canopy Tour.
Day 39/40 Knysna Oudtshoorn

It is only a short distance to Knysna, where you can relax by the lagoon or take a walk through this interesting town. The following day we travel through the Outeniqua Mountains towards Oudtshoorn. The visit to the world famous Cango Caves is included. Later in the day you have the option of visiting an Ostrich Farm. Optional Activities: Ostrich Farm visit and Ostrich Riding.
Day 41 Stellenbosch Wine Route

We take a scenic drive to Stellenbosch. As this is the last night on tour we will go out to a local restaurant for dinner. Optional Activity: Meal Out.
Day 42 Cape Town
Tour ends Own Arrangements B
After a leisurely breakfast, we go to a wine farm to taste some of South Africa’s finest wines. We also visit the Cheetah Breeding Project and finally the tour ends, in the afternoon, at the Nomad office in Greenmarket Square.

Day 23 Mozambique – Maputo

A transfer will take you from your accommodation in Johannesburg to the bus station, where you will board a luxury bus to Maputo. Mozambique’s capital is an enchanting city of wide acacia lined avenues and tall buildings overlooking Maputo Bay and the Indian Ocean. One of the city’s more fascinating features is the remarkable wealth of architecture, making it unique amongst Africa’s cities. You will be collected at the bus stop and taken to your hotel. Day 24 Maputo

Today we have a day in Maputo to relax and enjoy the city. There is a 3 hour city tour in the morning followed by lunch at the famous Costa do Sol restaurant. The afternoon is for your leisure. Optional Activities: Dinner out
Day 25 Maputo Elephant Reserve

Today we depart the city and cross the Maputo Bay to Catembe by ferry. We then drive south to Salamanga, with its impressive Hindu Temple. Crossing the Maputo and Futi rivers we enter the Maputo Elephant Reserve and head towards the coast. During the day there is time to stop and view the wildlife and extensive variety of birds found in this area. A leisurely lunch is served before making our way further south to Ponta Mamoli.
Day 26/27/28 Ponta Mamoli

Private and secluded beaches, snorkelling, fishing, surfing and swimming. Relax next to the pool, sipping a cocktail, just meters away from the bar and dining room. The Ponta Mamoli Dive centre offers wonderful snorkeling and diving expeditions with 10 reefs within 8km’s. The dive sites are some of the best in the world. The coral is untouched and the fish life abundant. Land based activities include sunset cocktails at serene inland lakes and hippo watching. Exciting lake canoeing trips, horse trails and bird trails keep young and old amused. Day 29 Maputo
